Local Purchase
The use of drugs not listed in MOH Drug Formulary is not allowed in all MOH hospitals unless approval had been given by the Director General of Health. There are 3 criteria of drugs which need local purchase.

  • First, drugs that are not listed in the KKM Drug Formulary.
  • Second, drugs listed in the KKM drug formulation but the indication is not in the KKM Drug Formulation although the manufacturer’s indication is registered with National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA).
  • Thirdly, drugs that are not registered with NPRA but listed in the KKM drug formulation. However, it is not available in the market or require approval from Senior Director of Pharmaceutical Service before being used in KKM institution.

    Generally, local purchase application form should be with approval from Hospital Director. All the application must be sent to the Senior Director of Pharmaceutical Service, KKM. Pharmaceutical Service Department has the right to not approve the application which is not complete, out of the criteria and does not fulfil the required condition.
