OSPHE Activities In Simulation Setting
Details of the activities involved in the assignment that need to be completed in this clerkshipare as below:

Satellite/Inpatient Pharmacy activities in the simulation ward
  • The assessment on the prescription screening, drawer filling, and ability to identify the dispensing error from the completed dispensed medication trolley will be evaluated in this component using Objective Structured Practical Examination (OShPE) format.
  • Activities are divided into 5 stations.
  • Followings are the objectives of each station.
Activities Objectives
Station 1:
Prescription Screening
  • To perform inpatient prescription screening based on a medication order given for a patient
  • To check the completeness of the prescription
  • To identify common prescribing errors that occur in the ward
  • To detect significant drug-drug interactionsand ensuring suitability of the drug use
  • To develop the ability to perform information searching activity through the use of multiple sources including MIMS, British National Formulary (BNF), and Drug Information Handbook
Station 2:
Intervention
  • To develop the skills to communicate with the other healthcare providers
  • To perform medication-related intervention by providing appropriate recommendations
Station 3:
Charting CMR
  • To develop the necessary skills to perform CMR chartingbased on the prescription given
Station 4&5:
Dispensing & Countercheck
  • To dispense medications using unit dose system
  • To perform drug filling using a drug bin and arrange the medications according to the appropriate time slot
  • To check the supply of the medications and perform necessary documentation
